Everything new is well-forgotten old. In the modern construction industry, wall panels for interior design are very popular.

It is not surprising: an affordable price, easy installation and a wide variety of designs and materials make panels a real architectural highlight. But few people know that IMAWELL was the company that brought the technology for manufacturing wall panels to Russia in the mid-1990s. IMAWELL engineered the very first production line for the manufacture of decorative panels based on wooden plates and put it into operation in Novosibirsk.

The at first glance simple, but versatile and affordable paneling parts fitted perfectly into the economic background of the post-Soviet space and made it possible for all sections of the population to purchase European quality for Russian prices. Why are wall panels so popular with designers and consumers these days? Of course, this wall covering has a decorative function first, that's why it can be compared with wallpapers or tiles. At the same time, the main advantage of panels over other variants of decorative wall design is the simple and quick installation. Wall panels do not require any previous renovation of the wall, but help to hide imperfections and irregularities. In addition, panels are a practical and elegant solution for hiding cabling and also provide additional sound and thermal insulation for the room.

Except of premium panels made of natural wood, the absolute majority of the wall panels are in the low or medium price segment. Thanks to a wide selection of decorative surfaces, you can find suitable panels both for the design of luxurious interiors and for a modern, minimalist interior.

In addition to the advantages mentioned above, the properties of panels depend on the material from which they are made. Panels made of MDF or PVC are the most common.

MDF — these are medium-density wood fiber boards, which are produced by hot pressing of finely fiberized wood mass. Urea-formaldehyde, which are harmless to health, are mostly used as adhesives. If a MDF base was coated with a decorative paper-based finish foil, we can speak of an economical and ecological finishing solution. With the help of the MULTIMA by IMAWELL finish foils, MDF wall panels can be produced in the look of natural wood, stone, plaster, leather or textiles. The example below shows a deceptively real imitation of an oak with synchronous 3D embossing. Such wall panels are almost indistinguishable from natural wood and look really cozy and classy.

Despite the protective varnish, which makes the panel surface more resistant to external influences, the use of MDF panels in wet rooms is not recommended. PVC panels are better suited for this purpose as well as for the expansion of office and industrial rooms with high traffic.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the most common plastic today. Workpieces made from this colourless, transparent plastic are used in many areas, including interior design. PVC wall panels are moisture- and heat-resistant and easy to clean. Surface finishing with PVC film gives PVC panels additional stability and aesthetic value. 2D PVC films Topline by IMAWELL enable authentic replicas, not only of wood, but also of concrete, brick, marble or slate. Despite the comparatively cheap price, such PVC panels look really refined and stylish.
